Fisheries Conservation Trust is dedicated to a thriving future for fish, nature and people. We protect and restore the UK’s freshwater, coastal and marine environments through conservation, research, education, advocacy and community action — helping fish flourish, habitats recover, and more people connect with nature through responsible, sustainable recreational fishing.
Fisheries Conservation Trust builds on the work already undertaken by the Angling Trust and Fish Legal, bringing a dedicated charitable organisation into the wider Angling Trust and Fish Legal group. The Fisheries Conservation Trust will enable this important work to grow, developing new conservation initiatives and building new funding partnerships to support fish, nature and the communities that depend on them.
Many of the charitable activities already undertaken by the Angling Trust and Fish Legal will continue and be developed through Fisheries Conservation Trust. Examples of this work include:

Anglers Against Litter
The Fisheries Conservation Trust will support litter picking events across the country in both the marine and freshwater environments to help decrease the impacts of litter (and plastics in particular) on the environment.
Anglers Against Pollution
The Fisheries Conservation Trust will support our growing citizen science network of water quality monitoring in the freshwater, transitional and coastal waters around England & Wales using our trained volunteers from each of the different communities.

Reel Education
The Fisheries Conservation Trust will support us to deliver environmentally-focused water activities in a classroom or playground to primary and secondary school children and young people.
Get Fishing for Wellbeing
The Fisheries Conservation Trust will support our programme of Social Prescribing so that consistent high-quality experiences and benefits of aquatic conservation can be prescribed to people with a variety of needs.

Campaigning and lobbying
The Fisheries Conservation Trust will support our work to campaign for a better aquatic environment. This includes work on management plans, lobbying policymakers, challenging polluters, and highlighting inadequate water management practices.
Using the law to fight for fish and the environment
The Fisheries Conservation Trust will support Fish Legal Ltd’s wider public-interest work to fight polluters and help protect the environment.
